PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's lacrosse team released its 2016 schedule in an announcement made by Head Coach Keely McDonald '00 on Friday. The 15-game slate features contests against four opponents that earned NCAA Tournament berths last season, with three of those teams ending the year ranked in the top-20.
"We are excited about the caliber of teams on our schedule, both in and out of league," said McDonald. "We are looking forward to the battles and challenges that our schedule will bring. Right now, we are simply focused on getting better every day and the effort we are putting into our play."
Brown will kick off the season with three-straight games at Stevenson Field, starting with Iona (2/20), then Central Connecticut (2/24) and Denver (2/27).
Following the three-game homestand, Brown hits the road for its first Ivy League match-up at Penn (3/5) before heading to nearby Smithfield, R.I. to face in-state rival Bryant (3/9). Both games will prove to be competitive contests as Penn and Bryant reached the NCAA Tournament last season.
Brown will then host Colgate (3/13) in a non-conference tilt before traveling to Yale (3/19) to resume conference play. Cornell next comes to College Hill for an Ivy League showdown (3/26) before the Bears travel for four-straight games.
The road sequence begins at 2015 NCAA Tournament participant Louisville (3/30) and is followed by Harvard (4/9). UMass-Lowell (4/12) and Columbia (4/16) will round out the away games for the regular season.
Brown then returns home for back-to-back games to close the regular season, with a pair of Ivy League contests in Dartmouth (4/23) and Princeton (4/30).
