PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's soccer freshman Celia Story has earned Ivy League Co-Player and Co-Rookie of the Week honors, the conference office announced on Monday.
A native of Bainbridge Island, Wash., Story scored the game-tying goal in the 65th minute and netted the game-winning goal in the 105th minute to help Brown overcome a 2-0 deficit and take a 3-2 double-overtime win at Cornell on Saturday.
Story posted her pair of goals against a Big Red side that had allowed just two goals in the run of play – and three total – on the season coming into the match. Brown's three tallies marked the first time this year that Cornell had given up a goal in the second half or overtime in the run of play.
For the season, the rookie ranks second on the team in points (eight), tied for second in goals (three), and tied for third in assists (two). She has placed eight of her 10 shots on the year on goal.
Story and the Bears will play their home finale on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 3:30 p.m. when the Bears host Penn. As part of the contest, Brown will honor its six seniors and celebrate head coach Phil Pincince in his final home game after 39 years as the leader of the Bears.
Tickets for all Brown women's soccer games can be purchased online, by calling the Brown Athletics Ticket Office at (401) 863-2773, or by walking up to the box office located in the Pizzitola Sports Center, open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
