
Field Hockey Falls at Cornell, 6-1

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Brown field hockey team was defeated by Cornell, 6-1, in an Ivy League contest on Saturday afternoon. The Big Red offense surged in the second half, tacking on five goals in the stanza after the halftime score was tied, 1-1.
Brown (6-8, 1-4 Ivy League) evened the score at one at 28:43 of the opening half when senior Alexis Miller (Caldwell, N.J.) scored following a penalty corner. Seniors Anna Masini (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and Emily Arciero (Avon, Conn.) gathered the assists. Arciero's assist moves her into seventh place all-time at Brown in career helpers.
The Big Red offense got going in the second half, adding five goals en route to its 6-1 win.
In net, freshman Katie Hammaker (Ephrata, Pa.) made four saves while Kelly Johnson had no saves in the game while allowing one goal.
Cornell held an 18-4 lead in shots and a 7-3 advantage in penalty corners.
Defensively for Brown, junior Katarina Angus (West Vancouver, British Columbia) made one defensive save in the game.
The Bears will return home to Goldberger Field for back-to-back games on Saturday, Oct. 31 and Sunday, Nov. 1. Saturday's game will be an Ivy League game against Penn starting at 12:00 p.m. while Sunday's match-up will be against non-conference opponent Lehigh at 12:00 p.m. for Brown's Senior Day.
