
Men's Soccer Defeats Cornell, 1-0

ITHACA, N.Y. - Freshman Matthew Chow's (Vancouver, British Columbia) second half corner kicker goal led men's soccer over Cornell, 1-0, in conference action on Saturday at Charles F. Berman Field. With the win the Bears improve to 7-5-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the Ivy League while Cornell falls to 3-10-1 on the year and 1-3-0 in the conference.
The first half ended scoreless as the Brown defense held strong during the stanza, fending off eight Big Red corners. Cornell had the advantage in shots in the half, 7-1.
Brown scored the game's lone goal at 59:15 when Chow's corner kicker found the back of the net to give the rookie his third goal of the season and the Bears a 1-0 lead and eventually victory.
Freshman Teo Norhagen (Stockholm, Sweden) recorded his second start of the season and second shutout while Brown's defense never allowed a shot on net the entire game. Mitchell Meyer tallied five saves in the contest for Cornell.
Cornell held an 11-9 edge in shots for the game but Brown had the upper hand in the second half with an 8-4 advantage.
The Bears will next play host to UMass Lowell in a non-conference game on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 7:00 p.m.
