Larry Hartel '08 To Compete In USGA Mid-Amateur

Providence, R.I. - Former Ivy League Men's Golf Champion Larry Hartel '08 will compete in the United States Golf Association's Mid-Amateur Championship, October 3-8, at the John's Island Club in Vero Beach, Fla.
A three-time All-Ivy selection at Brown, Hartel captured the Ivy League individual championship in 2006 and finished second twice (2005 and 2007). He was also the first golfer in Brown history to win the New England Championship.
Hartel earned a spot in the Mid-Amateur by shooting 71 in the September 2nd regional qualifying at the Fairmount Country Club in Chatham, New Jersey.
The Mid-Amateur Championship is open to any amateur golfer who is 25 years old by Oct. 3 with a Handicap Index® not exceeding 3.4. The USGA accepted 4,024 entries for the 2015 championship.
Hartel is teeing off at 1:59 pm on Saturday (10/3) at the par-71 North Course at the John's Island Club.
