CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard's four goals in the second half led the Crimson past Brown field hockey, 4-2, in an Ivy League showdown on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, Brown moves to 5-6 on the season and 1-2 in league play while Harvard improves to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in conference action.

The Bears got on the board first in the opening half with senior Alexis Miller (Caldwell, N.J.) notching her fifth goal of the season for a 1-0 lead at 30:13. Miller's shot came from the top of the arc on a penalty corner, with senior Emily Arciero (Avon, Conn.) and senior Anna Masini (Ann Arbor, Mich.) gathering the assists.

Miller's goal ties her for ninth all-time at Brown in career goals scored. The captain is tied with Lizzie Buza '04 and Lauren Becker '87 with 21 career goals.

Harvard knotted the game up at one in the second half at 38:24 when Marissa Balleza tallied a goal. The Bears later responded to reclaim a 2-1 lead when Arciero scored her first goal of the year at 46:52. Her score came off of a shot from the center of the arc that deflected off a Crimson defender. Junior Lucy Green (Providence, R.I.) registered the helper.

The Crimson then went on to score three unanswered goals en route to its 4-2 win.

Brown edged Harvard in shots, 14-13, and corners, 7-5, for the game.

All of Katie Hammaker's (Ephrata, Pa.) saves in net for Brown came in the second half, when she turned away five shots. Issy Davies of Harvard tallied two saves in each half.

The Bears will next host Holy Cross in a midweek match-up on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 4:00 p.m.
