PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's tennis team swept all six singles matches en route to a decisive 7-0 win over UMass-Amherst in the team's home opener on Friday at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Brown improves to 2-1 in dual match play this season and claims its second triumph in five days after defeating Cornell last Sunday.
The Bears laid claim to the doubles point thanks to the efforts of No. 2 Dayna Lord/Ammu Mandalap and No. 3 Hannah Camhi/Maddie Stearns, as the duos won their matches, 6-4 and 7-5, respectively.
All Brown singles wins came in straight sets, led by Lord, who defeated Ana Yrazusta of UMass, 7-6 (2), 6-0 and freshman Alyza Benotto after she defeated Aarzoo Malik, 6-1, 6-3.
Camhi, Mandalap, Nikita Uberoi, and Stearns also posted wins for the Bears on Friday.
Brown returns to action next weekend at the ECAC Championships held at Cornell beginning on Friday.
