Women's Tennis Splits at ECACs, Drops #48 Yale in Fifth Place Match

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Brown women's tennis team finished fifth overall at this weekend's ECAC Championships held at Cornell after a thrilling 4-3 win over the 48th-ranked Yale Bulldogs. On Friday, the Bears dropped a tough 4-1 decision to Dartmouth in the quarterfinal round.
The Bears fared better in Saturday's fifth-place match win over the No. 3 seeded Bulldogs, as the duos of Ammu Mandalap/Dayna Lord and Hannah Camhi/Stearns bested their Yale counterparts, 7-6 (4), and 6-2 respectively.
With the match knotted at three after singles wins from the freshmen Alyza Benotto (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Stearns, it all came down to the battle between Camhi and Yale's Ree Ree Li in the No. 3 slot. Dropping the first set 2-6, Camhi came storming back to win the final two sets, 7-6 (5), 6-4 in dramatic fashion.
With the weekend split, the Bears' dual match record goes to 3-2 overall prior to their next match at Boston College on Friday, Feb. 13.
