PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's soccer senior captain Chloe Cross (Seattle, Wash.) earned Ivy League Co-Player of the Week honors and freshman Mikela Waldman (San Francisco, Calif.) was tabbed as Ivy League Rookie of the Week in an announcement made on Monday.
Cross posted two goals in Brown's victories over St. John's and Delaware over the weekend, including her first career penalty kick in the 2-1 win over the Blue Hens on Sunday. Cross is Brown's first Player of the Week honoree since former goalkeeper MC Barrett earned the distinction on Oct. 24, 2011.
Waldman has had a sterling beginning to her collegiate career as she earns Rookie of the Week accolades for registering a goal and an assist over two games this weekend. With the Bears locked into a 1-1 tie with St. John's on Friday, Waldman's put back off a rebound in the 88th minute handed the Red Storm its first loss in 15 home games dating back to 2012. She claims Brown's first Rookie of the Year selection since Sarah Moody (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) was recognized on Oct. 29, 2012.
Cross, Waldman, and the Bears return to action on Thursday with a cross-city contest versus Providence at the Friars' Ray Treacy Field.
