Providence native Lucy Green tallied her first career goal on a penalty stroke in overtime to propel the Brown field hockey team to a dramatic 2-1 win over Sacred Heart on Sunday, September 21.
THE SERIES HISTORY – DARTMOUTH
Saturday will mark the 39th all-time meeting between the Ancient Eight foes as Brown seeks its first win the series since 2006. The Big Green holds a 26-10-2 advantage in the series dating back to 1976.
SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
Head Coach Amy Fowler enters her 15th season at the helm of the Big Green as they look to break a five-game losing streak and capture their first victory of the season. Dartmouth has faced ranked opponents in three of five contests this season, falling to No. 14 Northwestern, No. 15 Louisville, and No. 20 Princeton. The Big Green has been outscored by a 21-5 margin over five games and will look to Ali Savage and Brooke Van Valkenberg to jumpstart the offense. In goal, Ellen Meyer has gotten the starting nod in all five games while stopping 38 shots on goal.
SUDDEN DEATH THRILLER
Lucy Green's game-winning overtime strike on Saturday was Brown's first overtime win since upsetting No. 14 Louisville on Oct. 13, 2013. Green's conversion of a penalty stroke was Brown's first successful attempt since 2010.
O'DONNELL FOUR SHY OF RECORD
Tri-captain Meghan O'Donnell (Winchester, Mass.) leads the Bears with four goals this season and sits four goals shy of becoming Brown's all-time leader in goals, a record currently held by Tara Mounsey '00.
