
Women's Cross Country Victorious at Iona Meet of Champions

BRONX, N.Y. – Junior Lily Harrington (West Hartford, Conn.) placed fifth overall and three other Bears posted top-10 finishes as the Brown women's cross country team finished first overall at the 20th annual Iona Meet of Champions Saturday morning at Van Cortlandt Park.
Brown recorded 38 points to finish first among 20 teams at the event.
"I was very pleased to see such a tight pack from 1 to 6," said Tim Springfield, Director of track & field/cross country. "Lily led the team with a strong and aggressive race--it was good to see her competing to win."
Harrington, one of four Bears inside the top-10, completed the 6-kilometer course in a time of 22:34.85. Senior Leah Eickhoff (Hanover, N.H.) took sixth overall at 22:40.95, while sophomore Lucy Van Kleunen (Philadelphia, Pa.) and junior Lydia Davenport (New York, N.Y.) placed seventh and eighth, respectively, in times of 22:42 and 22:43.
Freshman Clare Peabody finished the course in a time of 22:48 to round out the Brown scorers.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, Oct. 4 when they take part in the Paul Short Run on the campus of Lehigh University.
