
Brown Falls to Providence, 3-2, In Overtime

Providence, R.I. - Daniel Neustadter scored a golden goal in the 94th minute for Providence to lead the Friars to a 3-2 overtime win over Brown in an intercity battle at Stevenson Field. The loss drops the Bears to 1-2-0 overall, while the Friars' record improves 4-1-0.
Neustadter scored the game-winning goal when he intercepted a Brown pass and scored on a break-away for the Friars.
Providence had several good scoring opportunities in the opening half before scoring first at the 42:55 mark. Marcus Naglestad's free kick from 22 yards on the left side of the box meandered through several Brown defenders and found the back of the net to give the Friars a 1-0 lead.
Brown had the better of play in the second half and evened the score, 1-1, at the 67:11 mark. Junior Jack Gorab (Newport Beach, CA) scored his first goal of the season for the Bears on a free kick from 30-yards to the left of the box, that was deflected into the back of the goal.
Bears' sophomore forward Nate Pomeroy (Groton, MA) have Brown the lead, 2-1, when he headed in a corner kick from junior Jameson Lochhead (Basking Ridge, NJ) at 78:20.
Providence tied the score, 2-2, on a blast from 35-yards out by Mac Steeves on a feed from Manny Andrade in the 83rd minute, sending the game into overtime.
Brown senior goalie Mitch Kupstas (Suwanee, GA) registered five saves, while Friars' keeper Keasel Broom also made five saves.
Brown had a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks, while the Friars out-shot the Bears by a 17-12 margin.
The Bears are back in action again at home on Sunday, hosting Lehigh at Stevenson Field in a matinee battle starting at 1:00 pm.
