Junior Tariq Akeel scored in the 85th minute to break a scoreless tie and give the Bears their first win of the season. Junior Jack Gorab earned the assist on the play, while senior keeper Mitch Kupstas picked up the win.
SCOUTING THE FRIARS
Providence enters Friday's game at 3-1 overall and 1-1 in road games this season. PC opened the season with three straight wins, but most recently fell at Quinnipiac, 3-1. Markus Naglestad leads the Friars with four goals and nine points, while Mac Steeves has three goals on the young season. Keasel Broome has started all four games in net for a 3-1-0 record. The two teams tied, 1-1, in last year's meeting at Glay Field and were declared Co-Champions of the Ocean State Classic.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAIN HAWKS
Lehigh enters the weekend at 2-1 overall, but will visit Rhode Island on Friday before heading to Stevenson Field on Sunday. Jamie Luchini leads the team with a pair of goals over the first three games, while Austin Decker and Ali Famili make up the rest of the scoring with one tally apiece. Ciaran Nugent is 1-1 in net for the Mountain Hawks, allowing three goals, while Joe Bogan made the other start for a 2-1 victory over Manhattan.
RETURN TO FORM
After missing most of last season with an injury, senior co-captain Ben Maurey made a big return for the Bears when he scored against Siena in the season opener. He led the team in scoring as a sophomore in 2012 and was named First Team All-Ivy for his efforts.
