PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University wrestling will open its 2014-15 season with the Brown & White Wrestle-Offs on Saturday at 7 p.m. inside the Pizzitola Sports Center as members of the team vie for spots in the squad's starting lineup.
"We are excited to showcase the team to our alumni, family, and friends on Saturday at the Brown & White Wrestle-Offs," second-year head coach Todd Beckerman said. "We have some marquee match-ups that will help set the tone for our eventual starting lineup. We are going to put on a show for our fans!"
The first 50 fans to arrive at Saturday's event will receive a Brown wrestling foam finger. Brown will also employ the help of two honorary coaches at the event with Bob Hill '88 coaching the white team and Nick Ciarcia '04 guding the brown side.
"This will be the first test to prepare the team for the East Stroudsburg Open next Sunday," Beckerman said. "I am excited to see all the hard work the team has put into preseason to prepare for this event."
After the wrestle-offs, Brown begins the intercollegiate portion of its schedule at the East Stroudsburg Open in East Stroudsburg, Pa., on Nov. 16.
