
No. 13 Men's Water Polo Wins Twice More to Close Regular Season

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS and BRONX, N.Y. – No. 13 Brown University men's water polo took an 11-8 win over No. 17 St. Francis Brooklyn and rallied for a 10-8 overtime victory at Fordham University at the SFC Aquatic Center and the Messmore Aquatic Center respectively on Sunday.
On the final day of their regular season, the Bears (22-6) came back from a 7-4 deficit to defeat the Rams (13-15) in the afternoon after sophomore Yahel Murvitz-Lahav (Tel Aviv, Israel) scored four goals to lead the visitors past the Terriers (12-10) in the morning.
Next, Brown begins play at the CWPA Northern Division Championships on Nov. 8.
Game 1 – Brown 11, St. Francis Brooklyn 8
Murvitz-Lahav added two assists, two steals, and two field blocks as Brown beat St. Francis, 11-8, in its first game of the day in Brooklyn Heights.
Senior Henry Fox (Mercer Island, Wash.) recorded two goals and three assists, and classmate Nick Deaver (Orinda, Calif.) contributed two goals and two assists. Junior Will Klein (Pasadena, Calif.) netted two goals, and sophomore Jake Wyatt (Corona Del Mar, Calif.) chipped in one tally.
In goal, sophomore Luke Weiser (Los Alamitos, Calif.) made 10 saves.
Brown captured a 2-1 edge after the first quarter and extended its lead to 5-2 with 1:18 left in the second period.
The Bears held a 5-3 advantage at the half, but the Terriers rebounded to tie the score at 6-6 with 1:01 remaining in the third quarter.
The visitors then used a 5-1 run to claim an 11-7 lead with three minutes to go. Four different Bears scored during the streak with Deaver accounting for two of the goals.

Game 2 – Brown 10, Fordham 8 (OT)
Deaver and junior Matty Gallas (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) each scored goals to open overtime and Deaver flipped in an empty-net goal as Brown came back from a 7-4 deficit to defeat host Fordham, 10-8.
Freshman Rico Burke (San Mateo, Calif.) and Murvitz-Lahav registered two goals apiece while Fox and Klein each posted one goal. Klein compiled six exclusions, Deaver came up with four steals, and Gallas had two assists.
Brown senior goalie Andrew Brown (Western Springs, Ill.) stopped six shots while Weiser turned aside three Ram attempts.
The Bears trailed 3-1 after one quarter and faced a 5-2 hole at the half. Fordham maintained a 7-4 advantage through three periods before the Bears made their move.
Murvitz-Lahav started Brown's rally with a goal at the 3:50 mark of the fourth stanza. Burke notched a goal less than a minute later, and Fox tied the contest at 7-7 with 2:07 to play in regulation.
Gallas opened the team's scoring in overtime before Deaver pushed the squad's lead to 9-7 with 1:16 to go in the first part of overtime. After Fordham pulled within 9-8, Deaver salted the game away with an empty net tally with 16 seconds left.
