PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown men's swimming and diving Head Coach Chris Ip has announced the hiring of Chris Dart as the team's assistant coach on Tuesday. Dart joins the Bears after spending the previous year as an assistant swimming coach of the Camana Bay Aquatics Club in the Cayman Islands.
"I am excited to have Chris Dart join our coaching staff. Chris is an ACC All-Academic recipient and a CSCAA Scholar All-American who will connect well with our student–athletes," said Ip. "Combine this with his competitive honors - ACC Conference Champion, NCAA All American, USA Olympic Trials qualifier, Great Britain Olympic Trial semi-finalist, he will certainly raise that bar for our program."
At Camana Bay, Dart assisted with day-to-day operations, long-term planning, and organizing travel. He also helped guide multiple swimmers to the Cayman Islands National Team and served as lead coach of the Cayman Islands National Development Team. Dart also organized and ran a 250-plus person Masters program and the first Cayman Islands Masters meet to ever take place.
"I would like to thank Brown University for offering me the opportunity to serve as the new assistant coach for the Men's Swimming and Diving team," said Dart. "It's an honor to be working at such a prestigious University and I'm looking forward to working with our team and with Coach Ip in elevating our program to new heights. This team is hungry and ready for success and I'm excited to be a part of it."
A decorated student-athlete at Clemson University from 2008-12, Dart was a four-time All-ACC Academic Team selection and two-time All-American Athletic Scholar. He was also a three-time ACC Swimming Champion, holding eight Clemson team records during his tenure. Dart was also a member of the Great Britain Junior National team in 2008, boasting a top-10 finalist designation in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic trials.
A native of Columbus, Georgia, Dart holds dual citizenship of the United States and the United Kingdom.
