
No. 13 Men's Water Polo Tops No. 16 Harvard, Falls to MIT

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – No. 13 Brown University men's water polo beat No. 16 Harvard, 19-11, behind five goals from senior Nick Deaver after falling to MIT, 11-9, on Saturday at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.
The Bears (12-4) topped the Crimson (12-5) for the second time this season after defeating their Ivy League rivals, 13-8, on Sept. 28. The Bears lost to the Engineers (7-9) after defeating MIT, 16-11, on Sept. 28.
Deaver (Orinda, Calif.) tallied two goals in each the third and fourth quarters to help propel Brown past Harvard in the team's afternoon game.
With the two teams tied at 6-6 through two quarters, the Bears outscored the visitors 5-3 in the third period and 8-2 in the fourth frame to pull away for the victory.
Senior Henry Fox (Mercer Island, Wash.) scored four goals – one in each quarter – while freshmen Yahel Murvitz-Lahav (Tel Aviv, Israel) and Tyler Kirchberg (Orinda, Calif.) posted three and two goals respectively.
The Bears dropped their morning contest to the visiting Engineers despite two goals each from junior Matty Gallas (Manhattan Beach, Calif.), sophomore Luke Irwin (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), junior Will Klein (Pasadena, Calif.), and sophomore Jake Wyatt (Corona Del Mar, Calif.).
Brown trailed MIT 4-3 after two quarters and remained within one goal at 8-7 through three stanzas, but the Engineers managed to hold onto the lead, taking the fourth quarter 3-2.
Next, Brown plays at Connecticut College tomorrow at noon.
