
Men's Swimming and Diving Splits Weekend Meets Against Bryant and Columbia

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Facing off against in-state rival Bryant on Friday and Ivy League foe, Columbia on Saturday, the Brown men's swimming and diving team gained a split of its weekend meets at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. The Bears posted a 164-67 win over Bryant before dropping a 167.5-132.5 decision to Columbia.
On Friday, the men claimed victories in 12-of-13 events en route to their resounding victory over the Bulldogs. The Bears got big performances from Ryan Saenger (9:52.91) in the 1000-Yard Freestyle, Cory Mayfield (1:42.38) in the 200-Yard Freestyle, and Jack Nee (21.13) in the 50-Yard Freestyle.
Tommy Glenn (Haddonfield, N.J.) claimed victory in the 200-Yard Individual Medley with a mark of 1:56.40 while Wil LaCosta (Gladstone, N.J.) scored a win in the 100-Yard Butterfly (51.91).
The quartet of Nicholas Johnston, Christopher Meyers, Daniel Klotz, and Oliver Diamond propelled the Bears to victory in the 200-Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:35.96. Alex Pascal (51.54) and Brian Barr (4:45.34) each claimed the crowns in the 100-Yard Backstroke and 500-Yard Freestyle, respectively.
Sazzy Gourley (Charlotte, N.C.) was able to take home the titles in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions.
On Saturday, the Bears competed well against a tough Columbia squad before ultimately falling to the Lions by a 35-point margin.
The event started off well for Brown as they claimed two of the top three finishes in the 200-Yard Medley Relay. Glenn continued his success in the butterfly this season, notching wins in the 200-Yard Butterfly (1:46.93) and the 100-Yard Butterfly (48.06).
Pascal scored his second title of the weekend as he triumphed in the 100-Yard Freestyle (46.16) while Thomas Mercurio (2:05.04) and Connor Lohman (2:07.10) placed first and second respectively in the 200-Yard Breaststroke.
After claiming victory in the 200-Yard Freestyle on Friday, Mayfield added to his win total with a victory in the 500-Yard Freestyle, clocking in with a time of 4:36.75. The Bears closed out the day with a win in the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay, concluding a strong weekend performance.
Brown will return to action next Saturday when they travel to Cornell to face the Big Red at 12 p.m.
