
Brown Fifth After Day One of Ivy League Championship

Galloway, New Jersey - The first day is in the books at the 54-hole 2011 Ivy League Men's Golf Championship with Brown fifth overall after shooting an opening round 318 at the Galloway National Golf Club.
Yale is first after day one after shooting 306, followed by Penn (308), Princeton (310), Dartmouth (314), Brown (318), Columbia (319), Harvard (324) and Cornell (330).
Bears' senior captain Michael Amato registered 13 pars in shooting a three over par 74, the third best score of the day. Amato bogeyed the first two holes, but played one over the rest of the way.
Sophomore JD Ardell and freshman Peter Callas both shot 81 for 18th place individually. Sophomore Jack Mylott shot 82 for the Bears, while freshman Kyohei Itamura finished at 83.
The Bears will be paired with Columbia in Saturday's second round, with their first tee-time at 12:15 p.m.
