New Haven, Conn. - The Brown men's squash team competed on January 22 and played really well against two strong programs, beating St. Lawrence, 6-3, and Middlebury, 7-3, in competition played at the Yale Round Robin in New Haven, Connecticut.
Leading the team for the Bears with strong performances in both matches was senior Adrian Leanza at number two, who comfortably won against St. Lawrence, and had a nail- biting win against Middlebury, where he came back from 1-2 down in games to win comfortably in the fifth. Leanza's fitness and strength proved to be too much for both opponents.
The other Bears who won twice at Yale included freshman Blake Reinson at number three, who saved match balls against St. Lawrence in the fourth game after being 0-2 down, to show great maturity before winning, 11-9, in the fifth.
Fellow Canadian and sophomore Eamon O'Connor, playing at number six, won a marathon against St. Lawrence after being 0-2 down in games - comfortably winning the fourth and fifth games. Freshman Alex Hsu was the other two-time winner on the weekend at number eight, with two fiercely-fought matches, winning both matches in four by showing great determination and athleticism.
Next up for the Bears is the defending National Champion Trinity on February 1st at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
