Bears Earn First Win, 3-0, Over Hartford

Storrs, Conn. - The Brown volleyball team earned its first win of the 2010 season, taking a 3-0 victory over Hartford at the UConn Toyota Classic. Brown (1-2) took the hard-fought match with a 29-27 win in the first game, 25-21 in game two, and 25-18 in game three.
Freshman Alexandra Rieckhoff (Laguna Beach, CA), who was named to the All-Tournament Team, stepped up by registering all 14 of Brown's assists. Sophomore Katrina Post (Pasadena, CA) came through with a game high five kills.
The Bears battled host UConn in its opening match on Saturday, falling to the Huskies by a 3-0 margin. Brown and UConn had two tight games with the Huskies winning both, 25-22 and 25-23. The Huskies won the third game by a 25-11 margin.
Post turned in a solid defensive performance against UConn, registering a match high 16 digs. On the offensive side, Rieckhoff registered 16 of Brown's 18 assists.
