
Four Named To NGCA All-American Scholar Team

Brown senior Susan Restrepo (Jacksonville Beach, FL) and juniors Megan Tuohy (Indiannapolis, IN), Heather Arison (Copley, OH) and Carly Arison (Copley, OH) have been named to the 2009-10 All-American Scholar Team by the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA). The four golfers are among 321 Division I student-athletes nationwide to achieve this prestigious academic honor for the past year. To be eligible, golfers must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 and must compete in at least 50% of the team's regularly scheduled competitive rounds.
"I am very proud of my team for achieving academically while traveling to every tournament on our schedule," said three-year head coach Danielle Griffiths. "It is truly an honor for our program and our players to receive the NGCA All-American Scholar Team awards."
Restrepo, a History of Art and Architecture major, has played in 18 rounds this past year with an 82.9 scoring average. As our two-year team captain Susan posted a career-low score for 18 holes (73) and 36 holes (83-73—156) placing 10th at the Dartmouth Invitational. Susan received the team's Most Improved award and is a two-time NGCA All-American Scholar Team honoree.
Tuohy, a Neuroscience major, has played in all 20 rounds this past year with an 81.1 scoring average. As the MVP of 2010 season she posted a season-low for 36 holes (77-79—156) at the Columbia Roar-ee Invitational. Megan's top finish came at the Ivy League Championship at Baltusrol GCwhen she tied for 11th place. She is a two-time NGCA All-American Scholar Team honoree.
Heather Arison, a Commerce, Organizations, and Entrepreneurship major, played in all 20 rounds this past year with an 82.0 scoring average. She posted a season-low for 18 holes (75) and 36 holes (82-75—157) at the Fall Yale Intercollegiate. Heather's placed tied for 15th at Ivy League Championship and she is a two-time NGCA All-American Scholar Team honoree.
Carly Arison, a Commerce, Organizations, and Entrepreneurship major, played 18 rounds this past year and finished with an 82.8 scoring average. She posted a season-low for 36 holes (77-78—155) and tied for 13th place at the Fall Yale Intercollegiate. Carly is also a two-time NGCA All-American Scholar Team honoree.
Brown established a new one-day school record of 306 during the 2009-10 season at the Golf Course at Yale and the team also had two top three finishes and one runner-up performance.
Brown returns seven letter winners including Seniors Sarah Guarascio and Julia Robinson. Sarah had a career low round (72) and a 9th place finish at the Columbia Roar-ee Invitational and Julia had a career low round (76) and a 10th place finish at the Yale Intercollegiate. The veteran squad begins the 2010-11 campaign on September 18-19 at the Dartmouth Invitational, a 36-hole tournament at Hanover Country Club in Hanover, NH.
