4/3/2010 12:00:00 AM | Women's Lacrosse
THE GAME: The Bears enter Saturday's game
against Dartmouth following an 18-4 win over St. Mary's.
Brown will look to even its Ivy League record this afternoon, as
the Bears are 1-2 in League play after posting a win over Harvard
and losses to Princeton and Yale. After today's game, the
second straight at home for Brown, the Bears hit the road for three
games next week; at Bryant, Columbia, and Manhattan. Fans who can't
make it to Providence on Saturday can follow the game live on
BrownBears.com via either livestats (free), audio (free), and/or
video ($7.00).
The Bears will also be celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports
Day on Saturday in conjunction with
the game against Dartmouth and RI Lax Day. Saturday's events start
at 8:00 Saturday morning with youth scrimmages running until 11:00
on Berylson Family Fields. All attendees are then invited to
Brown's game against the Big Green on Stevenson Field. National
Girls and Women in Sports Day t-shirts will be given out to the
first 200 fans aged 12 and under and fans will have the chance to
compete for a free Dominos Pizza at halftime. Following the
conclusion of the game, the women's lacrosse team invites all youth
lacrosse players over to Meister Kavan for a mini lacrosse
clinic.
LAST TIME OUT: Against the Gaels on Tuesday,

ALL-TIME VS. DARTMOUTH: Brown is 11-25-1 all-time
against the Big Green, after last year's loss. Brown's
last victory over Dartmouth came in 2008 when the Bears upset the
Big Green, then ranked #20 in the country, 8-5. The win in 2008 was
Brown's first since 1997, as Dartmouth has gone 11-1 since
the 1998 season.
LAST YEAR VS. DARTMOUTH: In the 2009 contest,
Dartmouth raced out to an 11-0 first-half lead and never looked
back, extending that lead to 15-0, before Katelyn Caro '12
got Brown on the board 9:46 into the second half. Dartmouth scored
its 16th of the day about four minutes later, as both teams were
kept off the scoreboard in the final 16 minutes of play. One
highlight of the contest was Brown's ability to control the
draws, winning 13 of the 19 draw controls taken in the game. Isabel Harvey '12 recorded six saves in net.
TODAY'S OPPONENT: After dropping a 9-8
decision to New Hampshire to open its season on February 27th,
Dartmouth was perfect during the month of March, going 6-0, while
earning wins over #8 Notre Dame (12-8), #6 Syracuse (17-10), both
on the road, and #18 Boston University (15-10). The Big Green are
also perfect in Ivy League play, having defeated Columbia, 15-1,
and Yale, 12-5. Greta Meyer '11 currently leads the Big Green
with 35 points (20g, 15a), while Kat Collins '11 (15g, 4a),
Sarah Parks '12 (15g, 4a), and Sarah Plumb '12 (12g,
7a) all have 19 points on the season. Plumb also leads the team
with 16 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers, while Colleen Olsen
'10 leads the team with 20 draw controls. Julie Wadland
