Wiener Named Ivy League Rookie of the Week

PROVIDENCE, RI - Brown women's soccer freshman Maddie Wiener (Portland, OR) had been named Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 10, 2010. Wiener becomes Brown's fourth Rookie of the Week this season after tallying a pair of goals in a 2-0 victory over Holy Cross last week.
The goals were the first of Wiener's career and gave the Bears
their fifth victory this year. Her first career goal came in the
40th minute when she took a pass from junior Allison Kagawa
(Mililani, HI) and launched a high shot from 40 yards out that hit
the upper right corner of the net. She doubled Brown's lead just
3:20 into the second half when she converted a goal-line cross by
classmate Louisa Pitney (Washington, DC) for her second goal of the
game. Wiener, who ranks third on the team in scoring with 5 points
(2g, 1a), also had one shot on goal in a 1-0 loss to League-leading
Princeton.
The Bears return to action on Wednesday, October 13, when they host
in-state rival URI in a 4:00 p.m. contest.
