Senior forward Natalie Bonds (Taveres, FL) recorded a double-double, notching 10 points and 11 rebounds, but it wasn't enough for the Bears (4-12, 1-1 Ivy), as Yale (6-10, 1-1 Ivy) avenged last weekend's loss with a 67-43 win in New Haven. The Bulldogs were led by forward Haywood Wright, who recorded 10 points and six rebounds.
Brown used an impressive defensive effort to keep the action close in the first half, holding Yale to just 35.7% shooting, including just three for nine from three-point range, and trailed just 27-24 heading into the locker rooms. The Bears came out playing particularly well over the first seven minutes, racing out to a 10-5 lead, but Yale steadily chipped away behind a balanced scoring attack to take the halftime lead.
In the second, the Bears once again came out on fire, storming back
to take the lead at 37-35 with just over ten minutes
remaining. However, the Bulldogs put the clamps on
defensively from that point on, settling into a rhythm and
gradually pulling away for the 67-43 victory on their home court.
The Bears will be back in action on Friday, January 29, when they continue their road swing at Princeton at 7:00 p.m.
