
Holy Cross Rallies For 85-79 Overtime Win Over Bears

Providence, RI – Holy Cross scored the
last eight points of regulation and outscored Brown 8-1 to open the
first overtime period, as the Crusaders rallied for an 85-79
overtime win over the Bears at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The
loss drops Brown to 4-5 overall, while Holy Cross earned its second
straight win to move to 2-6 overall. Brown's Peter Sullivan led all scorers with a career high 28 points.
Holy Cross guard Mike Cavataio scored six of his team high 21
points in overtime, including four of four free throws.
With Holy Cross trailing 67-59, with 3:02 remaining, the Crusaders
came storming back with an 8-0 run to tie the game, 67-67, on a
driving lay-up by Devin Brown with 31 seconds remaining. Cavataio
netted five points in the 8-0 spurt to close the game.
Brown tied the game at the half, 37-37, following a four-point
play by Peter Sullivan, who connected on a three-point from the
corner and converted the free throw. Sullivan's 18 first half
points came on 4 of 6 shooting from the field and 9 of 9 shooting
from the free throw line.
Brown came out of the locker room and built a 10-point second half
advantage, 59-49, on a lay-up by freshman Matt Sullivan with 7:29
left in the game.
Peter Sullivan led all scorers with a career high 28 points on 7
of 13 shooting from the field, including 2 of 3 from behind the
three-point arc, and 12 of 12 free throw shooting. Brown senior
Matt Mullery tossed in 21 points on 9 of 15 shooting from the
field.
R.J. Evans also scored in double figures for the Crusaders with 17
points, while adding 10 rebounds. Andrew Beinert tossed in 15
points, while Andrew Keister also registered a double-double for
the Crusaders with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Brown travels to Minnesota on Saturday December 5 to play coach
Tubby Smith and the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Game time is 2:30
p.m. (CST) at Williams Arena.
