
Bears Drop Season Finale to Yale, 6-2

NEW HAVEN, CT - Yale scored just 12:31 into the game and never looked back, as the Bulldogs (12-5, 6-1) earned a 6-2 win over the Brown field hockey team (5-12, 0-7) on Saturday afternoon in New Haven. Sophomores Leslie Springmeyer (New Vernon, NJ) and Abigail Taft (Shaker Heights, OH) both scored for Brown.
The Bulldogs earned a 2-0 first-half lead on a pair of goals scored off corners eight minutes apart. Yale controlled all aspects in the opening 35 minutes, earning a 16-3 advantage in shots and a 6-3 advantage in penalty corners.
Dinah Landshut, who scored the first goal of the game, began the second half just as she did the first, giving Yale a 3-0 lead 4:43 after halftime. Yale would add two more goals over the nest seven minutes to increase its lead to 5-0 at the 46:38 mark. Johna Paolino finished Yale's 6-0 run at 59:42.
Springmeyer got Brown on the board 1:17 later, scoring on a Bears' penalty corner. Junior Katie Hyland (Reigelsville, PA) was credited with the assist on the goal. Taft closed the scoring at 62:38 with an unassisted goal.
Sophomore Caroline Washburn (Pittsburgh, PA) made 10 saves in net, as Brown was outshot, 28-9.
