
Men's Soccer Opens Ivy League Play at Columbia

Providence, RI- The No. 23 Brown men's soccer team (4-0-4)
will open Ivy League play on Saturday when it travels to New York
to take on the Columbia Lions (2-4-1) at 7:00 p.m. at Columbia
Stadium.
Brown, the only team in the Ivy League that is still unbeaten this
season, is coming off a 3-3 double overtime draw to No. 16 Boston
College, and has earned ties in his last three consecutive
games.
Leading the offense is sophomore forward Austin Mandel (Tarzana,
CA) with eight points (4 goals), followed by Sean Rosa (Montreal,
Quebec) with eight points (2g, 4 assists) and Jon Okafor (Verona,
NJ) with six points on two goals and two assists. Junior Paul Grandstrand (Orono, MN) started all eight matches in net for the
Bears, and has tallied 22 saves and recorded three shutouts.
Brown and Columbia have battled 48 times, with the Bears holding a
30-14-4 advantage. Brown has been victorious in its last 16 games
against the Lions. Last season, the No. 24 Bears earned a 2-1
victory at Stevenson Field, with goals by then freshman Evan Coleman, and Rhett Bernstein '09.
Leading Columbia offense is Bayo Adafin with three goals, as James
Prince has tallied two goals and two assists. Alexander Aurrichio
has played and started in all seven contests in goal, and has 30
saves this season.
