The No. 19 Brown men's soccer team continues Ivy League
competition when it takes on Princeton University on Saturday, Oct.
10 at 7:00 p.m. at Stevenson Field. The Bears are still unbeaten
with a 5-0-4 overall record and are 1-0-0 in Ivy play. The Tigers
arrive in Providence 4-4-1 and are 0-1-0 in conference action.
Brown remains one of just three teams in the nation that are
undefeated, and was ranked No. 19 in the most recent NSCAA national
poll. After three consecutive overtime ties, the Bears claimed a
2-1 overtime victory in its Ivy opener against Columbia last
Saturday night. Sophomores Austin Mandel (Tarzana, CA) and Sean Rosa (Montreal, Quebec) lead the team in scoring with eight points
apiece, as Mandel has scored four times and Rosa has added two
goals and four assists. Leading the defense is goalkeeper Paul Grandstrand (Orono, MN), who has started in all nine contests and
earned three shutouts. His 0.72 goals against average, 23 saves,
and .767 save percentage ranks second in the Ivy League.
Brown leads the all-time series against the Tigers with a 32-19-6
record, and has won its last three matchups.
Princeton (4-4-1) is coming off a 1-01 draw against Adelphi earlier
this week and is 0-1 in the Ivy League after suffering a 4-2 loss
at Dartmouth last Saturday. The Tiger offense is led by junior Josh
Walburn's six goals (three game-winners) as both freshman
Matt Sanner and sophomore Antoine Hoppenot have added two goals.
Goalkeeper Sean Lynch owns a 4-4-1 record and has earned a 1.27
goals against average and a .721 save percentage.
