Mike Maher joined the Brown baseball staff ahead of the 2026 season as an assistant coach. Maher works directly with the Bears’ infielders, baserunners and hitters, and also serves as first base coach.
Maher came to College Hill after most recently serving as an assistant coach with the Worcester Bravehearts of the Futures League during the 2025 season where he worked with the team’s hitters and infielders. He also spent the previous year as a Mental Skills and Strength and Conditioning Coach at Complete Strength and Conditioning in Norwood, Mass.
Maher played five seasons of college baseball for fellow Brown assistant Eric Podbelski at Wheaton College, where he earned Second Team All-NEWMAC honors in 2024 after posting a .341 batting average with a team-leading 35 runs scored and a .468 on-base percentage.
Maher earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Wheaton in 2024. While at Wheaton, he conducted qualitative research on how social media affects college students and their mental health.
