Sam Casey joined the Brown football staff ahead of the 2025 season as a Defensive Quality Control Assistant. Casey brings several years of coaching experience in New England to College Hill, most recently at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, as well as playing and coaching experience in the Czech Republic.
Casey spent three seasons (2022-24) as the Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Backs coach at WPI where he served as the defensive play caller and coached eight All-NEWMAC and two all-region defenders. He previously spent two seasons (2020-21) in the same role at Fitchburg State.
In 2024, Casey served as a player-coach for the Vysocina Gladiators of the Czech American Football League (CAAF), seeing time as both a linebacker and a defensive assistant. On the field, he led the team in tackles and tackles for loss and helped the squad post two shutouts and the fewest points allowed per game (10.7) in franchise history.
Casey graduated from WPI in 2020 with a degree in management engineering, a concentration in operations management, and a minor in industrial engineering. As a member of the Engineers’ football team, he earned All-NEWMAC, All-Worcester Area and D3Football.com All-East honors while captaining the team to a share of its first conference title in 2019.
