Murray served as the Defensive Line Coach at Slippery Rock University from 2019-2021, serving as a critical piece to developing four All-PSAC, three all-region and two All-American defensive linemen. In 2019, The Rock ranked sixth in the final AFCA DII Poll after finishing with a 13-1 record and advancing to the national semifinals.
Prior to arriving in Slippery Rock, Murray served as a Defensive Line Graduate Assistant at the University of Cincinnati under head coach Luke Fickell, and defensive coordinator (and current Notre Dame head coach) Marcus Freeman.
Murray got his coaching career started as an assistant for three years at Newton North High School in Massachusetts, where he also worked as a Special Education Behavioral Therapist.
As a player, Murray was a three-time letterwinner at Boston College, where he played defensive line and was teammates with current Brown Defensive Coordinator Dan Mulrooney.
Murray graduated from Boston College in 2011 with dual Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Human Development and Economics with a minor in sociology. He later added a master’s degree in applied development and educational psychology from Boston College in 2013.
