Alumni Spotlight – Jayne Finst ’04
A standout member of the Brown gymnastics team, Jayne Finst ’04 was the first gymnast to earn back-to-back ECAC Gymnast of the Year honors, doing so in 2003 and 2004. When Finst graduated from Brown with a concentration in psychology, she held the school record on vault, beam, floor and the all-around, while also holding the Ivy and ECAC all-around records and the Ivy beam record. A well-rounded student, Finst earned Academic All-Ivy and ECAC All-Academic honors three times each and served as Co-President of Brown's Student-Athlete Advisory Board.
The native of Delray Beach, Fla., is currently the Vice President at Merrill Lynch Private Banking & Investment Group. In her role, Finst works with clients to implement customized strategies tailored to their specific needs. She focuses on strategies such as corporate executive services, 10b5-1 plans, corporate and personal lending, trust and estate planning services and portfolio customization including investments in alternative investments, equities, fixed income and structured products.
Prior to starting at Merrill Lynch in 2013, Finst worked with the Private Bank at Credit Suisse starting in 2007 and also spent three years with IMG (2004-07).
In April of 2015, Finst was inducted into the inaugural class of the ECAC Hall of Fame. The class of 25 individuals, comprised of former athletes, coaches and administrators, was the first Hall of Fame class in the 75-year history of the ECAC. Honorees for the first-ever class were selected for outstanding achievements, service, dedication, commitment, and contributions to the ECAC, championships, sponsored sports, programs, and events. Finst was one of only six inductees listed as “Athlete” - two of the six included WNBA Hall of Famer and Olympian, Rebecca Lobo, and Heisman Trophy winner, Doug Flutie.
Finst is still heavily involved with Brown and is a member of the Brown University Sports Foundation Board of Directors. She also had roles on both the 5th and 10th Reunion Gift Committees and the Young Athletic Alumni Council.
