Doug Kezirian, Water Polo
Alumni Spotlight - Doug Kezirian ’00
A four-year letterwinner and co-captain for the Brown men’s water polo team, Doug Kezirian ’00 led the team in scoring as a junior and senior and helped the Bears earn a national ranking in his time on College Hill. At Brown, Kezirian majored in economics, and pursued the communication vocation with a campus radio job and summer television internships. While in the pool at Brown, Kezirian’s greatest water polo memory was scoring the game-winner, with three seconds left, as a sophomore to win the Ivy Championship.
After graduating with an economics degree, the Los Angeles native was the Sports Director and main sports anchor for KTNV-TV, the ABC affiliate, in Las Vegas. He anchored the daily sportscasts, in addition to the station’s high school football show. He was also a founder and co-host of “The Las Vegas Sportsline,” which is currently the highest-rated ESPN radio show in Las Vegas. In six years in Las Vegas, he covered several sporting events, as well as conducting one-on-one interviews with stars including: Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Mike Krzyzewski, Jimmie Johnson, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Dana White. He also worked the red carpet and interviewed celebrities at numerous entertainment events in Las Vegas. Kezirian has reported on the Super Bowl, NBA Finals, World Series, the NCAA Tournament, BCS bowl games, NASCAR races, Stanley Cup Final, marquee boxing and UFC cards, and the World Series of Poker. His profession even took him to Guantanamo Bay, when he dabbled as a news anchor.
In July of 2012 Kezirian joined the worldwide leader in sports, ESPN, as a SportsCenter anchor. He also hosts several other ESPN programs, including: NBA Tonight, Friday Night Fights, Highlight Express, Buzzer Beater, Goal Line and First Take. In addition, Kezirian hosts halftime updates for college basketball, WNBA and Arena Football broadcasts and has served as a play-by-play announcer for college basketball.
During the Brown men’s water polo 2014 season, Kezirian gave the team a shoutout on SportsCenter when the program won the CWPA Championship, giving the Bears an NCAA berth.
Kezirian also hosts ESPN Radio for College Gameday, which started in the 2015 season. Working alongside Brad Edwards and Trevor Matich, Kezirian is on the air for seven hours on college football Saturdays.
