Brown Competes in Inaugural SAAC “Tug for a Cure”
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University athletics and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee partnered to host the inaugural "Tug for a Cure" in which Bear teams competed in a tug-of-war competition to raise money for the Brown University Oncology Group (BrUOG).
On Sunday, April 10, the Bears met on Brown's main green and raised over $1,000 for BrUOG through the competition. Men's ice hockey emerged as the winner on the men's side while rugby took first place in the women's competition.
BrUOG was created in 1994 to advance clinical cancer research at Brown University and its affiliated hospitals. Led by Medical Director Howard Safran, MD, BrUOG's team of top-flight physicians and researchers is dedicated to improving cancer care through the implementation of innovative, multidisciplinary clinical trials.
