Considered the fastest pool in the Northeast, the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center is home to Brown’s varsity swimming & diving and water polo programs. The million-gallon pool – 56 meters long and nine feet deep in the competition course – officially opened in 2012.![]()

- 22 swimming lanes when set up for short course yards
- Eight swimming lanes when set up for long course meters

Two 1-meter spring boards - Two 3-meter spring boards

- Fully automatic Daktronics timing system with electronic scoring for diving and water polo
- State-of-the-art HD video scoreboard
- Separate varsity team locker rooms for both swimming & diving and water polo
- Varsity coaches suite for swimming & diving and water polo staffs
Combined with the Nelson Fitness Center and Zucconi Varsity Strength & Conditioning Center, the building is LEED Gold Certified. The pool is solar-powered, with 168 dual-technology solar panels located on the roof providing enoughelectric and thermal energy to power the pool lights and regular water temperature. This installation is the largest hybrid solar-powered electrical and heating installation in the United States.![]()
The facility has hosted or is slated to host the following major events since its opening:
- Ivy League Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships (2013, 2016)
- Ivy League Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships (2014, 2017)
- Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Men’s Eastern Championships (2012, 2013)
- Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Women’s Southern Division Championships (2013)
- Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Men’s Northern Division Championships (2015)
- Rhode Island Interscholastic League (RIIL) Swimming & Diving Championship (annually since 2013)
