Goldberger Family Field
Goldberger Family Field
One of Brown's newest facilities, Goldberger Family Field was
completed in September 2012 and named after Michael Goldberger, who
served as Brown director of athletics for 38 years.
Home to the Brown field hockey
team, the regulation-sized field hockey field is a state-of-the art
knitted-nylon AstroTurf surface with hockey lines only. The project
also included the construction of spectator stands and a press box,
along with a Daktronics Scoreboard.
The field was officially dedicated and named the Goldberger Family
Field on November 3, 2012, prior to Brown's game against Yale.
The plaque at the field reads:
Named in honor of Michael "Goldie" Goldberger, whose 38 years of distinguished service to Brown University as coach, director of admission, and director of athletics provided inspiration and guidance to countless students, athletes, staff, alumni, parents, and friends. With his wife, Kathy, and sons, Kevin and Brian, Goldie epitomizes all that is best about the Brown community and Brown Athletics: selflessness, dedication and generosity of spirt.
