PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Playing at Richard Gouse Field at Brown Stadium for the first time this season, the Brown football team powered its way past Bryant 28-13 on Saturday afternoon. Running backs Matt Childs and Qwentin Brown had two touchdowns apiece for the Bears.

Brown's defense has now held its opponents to 14 or fewer points in four consecutive games for the first time since a five-game stretch spanning the 1985 and 1986 seasons.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Childs totaled 189 all-purpose yards, rushing for a career-high 103 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries, while adding 45 yards receiving.
Qwentin Brown added 32 yards on the ground and a pair of touchdowns.
Junior Pearson Hill caught four passes for 56 yards and Levi Linowes caught two passes for 37 yards.
Senior quarterback James Murphy threw for 198 yards on 16-of-25 passing.
Senior linebacker Max Malo led the Bears with 9.0 tackles.
Senior Stefano Montella added 8.0 tackles.
Senior Ike Odimegwu had 4.0 tackles, including 1.5 sacks.
Senior Camryn Williams-Dalton had 5.0 tackles, one interception and a pass breakup.
Bryant outgained Brown 408-383, with the Bears holding a 185-100 edge on the ground. 276 of Brown's yards came in the first half.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Brown got on the board first on its second possession with a six-play, 55-yard drive that ended with a nine-yard scoring run by Childs at the 8:20 mark.

Brown extended the lead to 14-0 at 12:16 of the second quarter on a 4th-and-goal run from the one by Qwentin Brown. The drive was spurred by a big 56-yard catch and run down the middle by Pearson Hill that set the Bears up at the six-yard line.
Qwentin Brown found the end zone for the second time by plowing one in from one yard out with 5:37 left in the second quarter to push the lead to 21-7. Childs set the score up with a 20-yard reverse around the left side.
Bryant cracked the scoreboard with a 35-yard touchdown catch-and-run to make it 21-7 with 3:36 left until halftime.
Bryant drove into the red zone on its opening possession of the second half and settled for a 31-yard field goal at 8:07.
The Bulldogs converted a third down and fourth down in their next drive, along with a Brown personal foul to connect on a short field goal and pull within 21-13 with 1:09 left in the third quarter.
The Bears used a 14-play, 70-yard drive early in the fourth quarter to take control of the game, taking over six minutes off the clock with a heavy dose of rushes, capped by a one-yard score by Childs with 9:42 remaining.

Williams-Dalton grabbed an interception at the Brown 22 with just over five minutes to play, and the Bears were able to run out most of the remaining time, picking up five first downs until there was less than 30 seconds left.

Brown will jump back into Ivy League play for the final six games of the season, beginning next Saturday, Oct. 17 with a matchup at Princeton. Kickoff is set for noon on ESPN+.
