PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown Head Football Coach James Perry '00 has announced the addition of Andrew Breiner as the Bears' new Assistant Coach, Wide Receivers. Breiner brings nearly 20 years of coaching experience to College Hill, including head coaching experience at the FCS level, and as an assistant coach in the FBS and NFL.
Along with new Defensive Coordinator Dan Mulrooney and Tight Ends Coach/Special Teams Coordinator Patrick Murphy, Breiner will be one of three assistants with previous collegiate head coaching experience on Perry's 2025 staff.
Most recently, Breiner spent the last three seasons as an assistant quarterbacks coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars under head coach Doug Petersen. It was his second stint in the NFL, previously serving as a Pass Game Analyst with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020.
Breiner held two previous positions at the FBS level, including one year as Offensive Coordinator and Wide Receivers Coach at FIU in 2021, and two years at Mississippi State as the Passing Game Coordinator/QB Coach under Joe Moorhead.
Prior to arriving in Starkville, Breiner spent six seasons at Fordham, the last two of which serving as head coach. After a four-year run as offensive coordinator, Breiner was named the head coach of the Rams ahead of the 2016 season at the age of 32. In his two years at the helm of the program, Breiner oversaw one of the most prolific offenses in all of FCS Football, ranking fourth nationally in 2016 in total offense (498.2 ypg) and scoring offense (40.1 ppg), while also ranking in the top 10 in passing efficiency. Garrick Mayweather Jr. and Chase Edmonds both earned All-America honors while Breiner was Fordham's OC in 2015, and Edmonds went on to be a fourth round NFL Draft pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2018.
Breiner earned his bachelor's degree in health and physical education from Lock Haven in 2006. He played both wide receiver and on special teams throughout his four-year career and earned a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Award from the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the NFF for his accomplishments athletically, academically and in the community.
