
Equestrian Has Solid Start to Spring Season at Two Shows

ASHAWAY, R.I. – Brown Women's Equestrian is enjoying a solid start to their 2025 spring season. Last Saturday (3/1), the Bears rode to competitive placings across all divisions, including two first-place-finishes in Limit Fences and Pre-Novice Flat courtesy of Cassady Churchill and Catalina Coral. Hosted at Hunter Ridge, the double-header was a combination of the Community Show and the University of Rhode Island Home Show, the latter having been rescheduled from February 16 following inclement weather.

Over fences, Cassady Churchill excelled in the Limit division, riding to a 1st-place finish. Also competing in Limit fences was Lana Khalidi, who earned 5th. Seniors Julia Byrne and Caroline Hwang each earned 6th place finishes in their respective divisions of Open and Intermediate fences.
On the flat, Byrne placed 3rd in the Open division. Churchill and Khalidi picked up some more points in the Limit class, earning 4th and 6th respectively. Abigail Grove rode to a solid 4th place finish in Novice flat; Lara Nahcivan, Ziyin You, and Catalina Coral secured 3rd, 4th, and 5th for their efforts in Pre-Novice. Finally, Emmanuelle Bal and Lauryn Mills earned 3rd and 6th places in the Introductory division to round out the first show of the day.
Community Show
Over fences, Cassady Churchill finished 3rd in the Limit division, while Caroline Hwang earned 4th in Intermediate.
On the flat, Catalina Coral picked up the Bears' second individual win of the day with a 1st place finish in the Pre-Novice division. Also placing in Pre-Novice was Lara Nahcivan, who earned 4th. Lana Khalidi and Cassady Churchill picked up 2nd and 3rd in Limit flat. Lauryn Mills, Diqiu Liu, and Emmanuelle Bal wrapped up the day with 2nd, 4th, and 6th place finishes in the Introductory division.
