
Women's Tennis Season Preview

Brown women’s tennis is set to begin their fall season next Friday when they compete in the Bulldog Invitational in New Haven, Connecticut hosted by Yale. The tournament will run from Friday, September 20 to Sunday, September 22.
Head Coach Lucie Schmidhauser will enter her sixth season leading the program. Sophia Geier will accompany Schmidhuaser in her second season with the team.
The Bears concluded the 2023-24 season with a 10-13 record. They finished tied for sixth place in Ivy League play with a 1-6 record, and a fourth place finish in the ECAC Conference tournament.
This year’s roster consists of three seniors, two juniors, three sophomores, and three freshmen.

The Schedule
After the Bears open the fall season at Yale, the team will head to Cambridge, Massachusetts to battle at the ITA Regionals from Thursday, October 10 through Tuesday, October 15.
The following weekend, Brown will return home to host the Bruno Classic from Friday, October 18 to Sunday, October 20.
The season rolls on as the Bears compete in the Ivy League Invitational in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Oct. 25-28) before heading to the Harvard Quad Team Event on the first of November (Nov. 1-3).
The Conference Masters and Sectional Championships East will both take place on the same weekend from November 7 through November 10. The Conference Masters will take place in San Diego, California wile the Sectional Championships will happen in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Fall tennis will wrap up with the NCAA Individual Championships in Waco, Texas from November 18 through November 24.

Returning Players
Eight players from the 2023-24 season will return to College Hill, including Phoebe Peus and Lindsey Hofflander who both received Ivy League recognition. Peus and Hofflander earned second team All-Ivy in doubles. Peus was also recognized as first team All-Ivy in singles.
Gabby Soliman returns for the 2024-25 season with a total of 11 singles wins last season. She also notched four doubles wins when paired with returner Hannah Shen.
Addie Ahlstrom capped off last season with a total of nine singles wins. She earned a total of 18 doubles wins when paired with Ali Benedetto.
Dani Ben-Abraham, Anne Moody, and Anne Yang will also return for the 2024-25 season.
The team returns with 10 wins last season, including a five match winning streak over Boston University (Mar. 3), Bryant (Mar. 8), Fordham (Mar. 9), St. John's (Mar. 10), and UMass Amherst (Mar. 16).
The Bears also tallied wins against Portland (Feb. 3), Villanova (Feb. 4), Holy Cross (Feb. 4), Penn (Feb. 9), and Dartmouth (Apr. 5).

Newcomers
Three freshmen are set to make their debut as a Brown Bear this season. Brown's 2024 recruitment class was ranked No. 21 in the country by Tennis Recruiting Network.

Bella Hu is from West Chester, Pennsylvania and attended The Baldwin School. She is ranked No. 67 nationally by Tennis Recruiting Network.
Ali Maguy is from Moraga, California and attended Campolindo High School. She is nationally ranked No. 59 by Tennis Recruiting Network.
Sari Woo is from Ann Arbor, Michigan and attended Skyline High School. She is a Blue Chip player checking in at No.23 nationally from Tennis Recruiting Network.
