
Baseball Welcomes Seven to the Incoming Class of 2027

Brown baseball head coaching chair Grant Achilles has announced seven additions to the Bears' incoming Class of 2027.
The newcomers who will be joining the program this fall ahead of the 2024 season are Brendan Chanley, Brandon Chang, Brady Dever, Andrew Hanlon, Brenden Kline, Miles Newsome, and Ryan Oshinskie.
“The class of 2027 adds invaluable depth and athleticism, while building on our principles of Brotherhood, Integrity, and Gratitude," Achilles said. "Each player brings a unique skill set, and will elevate our program this fall and during their four years on College Hill.”

Brendan Chanley
RHP/OF | 6-4, 205 lbs. | Ridgewood, N.J. | Ridgewood
Before Brown: Two-sport athlete and three-year letterwinner in both baseball and football at Ridgewood High School…Two-time all-league and two-time second team all-county selection…Helped lead Ridgewood to the 2023 North 1 Group 4 state title…Batted .352 with 26 RBIs and a .580 slugging percentage during his senior season in 2023…Posted a 1.30 ERA with 56 strikeouts and 11 hits and 13 walks allowed over 32.1 innings as a senior…Ranked No. 33 overall and the No. 16 right handed pitcher in New Jersey by Perfect Game…On the gridiron, he was a co-captain, team MVP and two-time all-league honoree as a junior and senior…Presidential Award of Academic Excellence/Achievement.
Personal: Son of Christine and David Chanley…Has an older brother, Ryan, and a younger sister, Mckenna…His father is a member of Brown’s Class of 1996.
Why Brown?: “I have always set my sights on playing competitive Division I baseball at a high-academic institution. Brown provides the best of both worlds and an Open Curriculum which will allow me to focus my studies on areas where I have the highest degree of interest. In addition, I believe the Brown coaching staff and team are developing a winning culture that I am excited to join.”
Brandon Chang

Before Brown: Member of the JSerra Catholic teams that captured the 2021 CIF Regional Championship, and the 2022 and 2023 CIF-SS-D1 championship titles…Played for the 14U USA National Development Team…Played club baseball for OC Tribe and TB SoCal Baseball…Dean’s List student.
Personal: Son of Joomi and Andy Chang…Has a younger brother, Eric…His uncle, Yikeun Chang is a professional golfer.

Brady Dever
OF | 6-3, 200 lbs. | Houston, Texas | Fort Bend Christian Academy

Before Brown: Two-sport athlete in baseball and football at Fort Bend Christian Academy…Two-time first team all-state and all-district selection…Houston Newcomer of the Year…TAPPS Male Athlete of the Year…Graduated as the school record holder for single-season hits, batting average, and on-base percentage…Finished his three-year varsity career with a .471 batting average…Batted .553 as a senior in 2023 with 30 runs, 21 RBIs, 13 doubles, four homers and 18 walks…Two-time Team MVP and voted the team’s 2023 Pitcher of the Year…Played club baseball for Hunter Pence Baseball Academy…National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, English Honor Society and Spanish Student of the Year…Golden Eagle Award…Spanish Student of the Year…Photographer of the Year.

Andrew Hanlon

Before Brown: Four-year letterwinner at Bishop Verot High School…Selected to the West Region FACA All-Star Game…Two-time all-area selection…Posted a 1.000 fielding percentage while batting .338 with a .407 on-base percentage as a senior in 2023…National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society member…Graduated Summa Cum Laude.
Personal: Son of Mary and Brian Hanlon…Has an older sister, Marian.

Brenden Kline

Before Brown: Member of the Flower Mound High School team that played in the 2023 UIL Texas 6A state finals…Served as a youth umpire during the summers… National Merit Scholar Finalist…National Honor Society member…member of the National Spanish and Math Honor Societies.
Personal: Son of Jennifer and Steve Kline…Has a younger sister, Mia.
Why Brown?: “I always dreamed I could play Ivy League baseball, and Brown provides a perfect place for me to explore every aspect of myself, both as an athlete and as a student. Their athletic prowess and academic prestige, especially with the Open Curriculum, drew me to them immediately.”
Miles Newsome

Before Brown: Posted a .431/.566/.601 slash line with 53 hits, 63 runs scored and 34 steals over 45 games between his junior and senior seasons (2022-2023)…Ranked in the top 500 nationally and Top 30 in N.C. by Perfect Game…Invited to MLB’s Breakthrough Series, Dream Series and Hank Aaron Invitational…Member of the 2022 North Carolina Body Armor State Games roster…Two-time DAC-7 All-Conference selection…Senior captain…Also a member of the basketball team…Jordan High School Male Scholar-Athlete as a senior…Member of the National Honor Society…National Spanish and National English Honor Society member…AP Scholar…Eagle Scout.

Personal: Son of Lynda and Robert Oshinskie…Played club baseball for Baseball U CT, where he was teammates with fellow Class of 2023 Ivy Leaguers Garrett Larsen (Yale) and Max Foster (Cornell).

The 2024 season will commence in February, with Brown's full schedule to be announced this fall.
