
Softball Announces Class of 2027

Head Brown softball coach Kate Wheeler has announced the Class of 2027.
“We are excited to welcome these five exceptional student-athletes to the Brown Softball family,” said Wheeler. "Their talent, dedication, and passion for the game will blend seamlessly with the 17 returners. We can't wait to see the impact they will have on and off the field."

Macy Borowski
Pitcher/First Base | 5'8" | Byron | Byron, Minn.

- Played for Midwest Speed National
- Named All-Conference, All-Section and All-State First Team during high school career
- Had 17 home runs and 55 RBI in her final two seasons of high school
- Struck out 225 batters and walked just 20 in 116.2 innings pitched as a senior with a 0.90 ERA
- Earned Academic Letter all four years of high school and graduated Magna Cum Laude
Why Brown: “I chose Brown obviously for its outstanding academics, but also because of its location. I wanted to go to a school outside of Minnesota and on one of the coasts. As soon as I stepped on campus this fall I knew it was the place I wanted to spend the next four years. Softball also played a factor as I got to meet the players and coaches and they made me feel very welcomed and gave me a great impression of Brown as a whole."
Lilly Burns
Catcher/Utility | 5'7" | Bishop Montgomery | Torrance, Calif.

- Played for USA Athletics Rogers 18u Gold
- First Team All-League all four years of high school
- Hit over .500 as a sophomore, junior and senior and finished her career with six home runs and 62 RBI
- Principal's Honor Roll all four years and graduated Magna Cum Laude
Why Brown: “I chose Brown because of its legacy and academic excellence. I knew I wanted to be somewhere where I could flourish both academically and athletically, and Brown gives me the best of both worlds. When I first visited the campus it was amazing and I instantly knew it was where I wanted to be. Coach Wheeler and Coach Correia are great people and I'm super excited to play for them the next four years. Ultimately, attending Brown will set me up for success in the future while also being able to thrive in a welcoming atmosphere.”
Maya Choksi
Middle Infield | 5'8" | Stephen F. Austin | Austin, Texas

- Played for Texas Blaze Softball Club
- Was selected All-District Honorable Mention as a senior
- Hit .302 with 27 hits and 21 RBI as a senior
- Named Academic All-State and Academic All-District four times
Why Brown: "One of the many reasons I chose Brown was the environment. I had gone on visits and attended camps at a few schools this past summer, including Brown. However, the culture and environment I experience while on Brown’s campus just stood out to me. Everyone I met spoke about how much they loved Brown's campus, culture, students, faculty, and just about everything. Additionally, the open curriculum was super appealing to me since I am still undecided on what I want to study"
Kaicee Klus
Outfield | 5'2" | Simi Valley | Simi Valley, California

- Played for Bownet Sports Academy
- Was named First Team All-League, and team Offensive Player of the Year, Most Valuable Player and Varsity Captain as a senior
- Hit .507 with 37 hits and 10 RBI in her senior season
- Member the National Honors Society and California Scholarship Federation. Also earned academic excellence all four years of high school
Why Brown: “I chose Brown University to attend due to the opportunity for excellence in both worlds. I will be able to continue playing softball at the D1 collegiate level, while also earning a degree from one of the most prestigious universities. The academic environment and welcoming community of athletics are exactly what I want to be a part of.”
Alyssa Villarde
Middle Infield/Outfield | 5'3" | California | San Ramon, California

- Played Universal Fastpitch
- Earned both First Team and Second Team East Bay All-League honors
- Two-time team Defensive Player of the Year and Varsity Captain
- Member of first team in school history to win the North Coast Section Division I Championship
Why Brown: "I chose Brown because of the opportunity to pursue a top-tier education and Division I athletics. It felt like the perfect fit because Brown’s unique open curriculum allows me to explore my interests. From the moment I stepped on campus, I felt very welcomed, and I fell in love with the beauty and location of Brown."
