Mahdia Parker Named MA Sorensen Award Nominee

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown senior Mahdia Parker was announced as one of 17 nominees for the MA Sorensen Award. Goff Rugby Report released the list of finalists last Friday (Mar. 31).
The nominees will be narrowed down to a group of finalists with the winner receiving the MA Sorensen Trophy at a gala event in Seattle, Washington in June.

The MA Sorensen Award is given annually to the top women's collegiate rugby player. The award is named after World Cup-winning Eagle MA Sorensen, who went on the blaze trails as a player, coach, and doctor. Since 2016, the award has been presented annually at the Washington Athletic Club of Seattle, Wash.
Parker is one of five Ivy Leaguers nominated for the year-end award. Parker joins a pair of Crimson and a pair of Big Green student-athletes on the 17-member list.
Last fall, Parker ranked third on the Bears with five tries, helping the squad reach the NIRA Semifinals. This spring, Parker and the Bears hold a 9-1 record and most recently posted a runner-up finish at the 2023 Crimson 7s Tournament.
Brown returns to action this Saturday (Apr. 8) at Richard Gouse Field at Brown Stadium against Vassar. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
