
Bears Wrap Up Saturday’s Opening Action at 7’s Collegiate Championships

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Brown women's rugby team opened up action at the USA Rugby 7's Collegiate Championships on Saturday on the campus of Kennesaw State University. The Bears posted an 0-2-1 record in their three matches, opening the day with a 12-12 draw against West Chester, followed by a pair of defeats at the hands of Lindenwood and Dartmouth.
Brown started off the day with a 10:40 a.m. matchup against West Chester, jumping out to the early 12-0 lead after Mahdia Parker and Emerson Goodrich scored. West Chester rallied and got on the board to make it 12-5, then later tied it following another score and a kick to knot it at 12. Neither team was able to break the stalemate, resulting in the match ending in a tie.
In the second match of the day, which was streamed live on Peakcock, Brown squared off against Lindenwood, with the Lions starting fast and prevailing in a 36-0 victory.
In its final matchup, the Bears faced Dartmouth where the Big Green sprung out to a 12-0 lead. Brown got on the board midway through the first half and made it 12-7 following the conversion. Olivia Duba then drew the Bears even, tying things up 12-12. Dartmouth quelled the run and ended up scoring the final 24 points of the match, winning a gritty battle by a score of 36-12.
Brown will conclude its 2022 season on Sunday with the playoff schedule of the 7's Collegiate Nationals. All the action can be watched live on Peacock/NBC/CNBC. An updated schedule can be found here.
