
Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month 2021: Amanda Forte ’02, Equestrian

Throughout the month of May, Brown Athletics will celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month through a series of profiles. Over the course of the month, the Bears will recognize Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders who have made an impact on the university community and beyond.
Amanda Forte '02, Equestrian
Amanda Forte '02 is the first person in the history of the equestrian to win every individual competition at the IHSA National Championships and then return to win both flat and fences as an alumna. She was the 2001 winner of the Cacchione Cup as the national individual hunter seat high-point rider and is one of the most successful riders in the history of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. In her first two seasons at Brown, Forte won the 1999 Individual Open Flat Championship and the 2000 Individual Open Fences Championship. As a junior, Forte captured the Individual Open Flat Championship and Cacchione Cup while also leading the Bears to the Team Open Over Fences Championship and a third-place overall team finish at the national championships. In her final year, Forte helped the program win the Team Open Over Fences title and register a fifth-place team finish at nationals. A Cognitive Science concentrator at Brown, Forte continued her studies at New York University, earning a graduate degree in Educational Communication and Technology with a focus on Instructional Design. She is currently the Head of Retail Public Site at Vanguard. She was inducted into the Brown Hall of Fame in 2018, the first ever equestrian inductee.
