NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Brown women's tennis team was defeated by Dartmouth, 4-1, in the final day of the ECAC Championship on Sunday at the Dick Savitt Tennis Center.
"I was really proud of our effort today, especially in singles," said head coach Lucie Schmidhauser. "Every single player left everything she had on the court. We competed with great spirit and class today. Even though the match didn't go our way in the end, we've made great strides in our ability to bounce back, reset and continue to fight no matter what."
The Big Green went up 1-0 with a 6-1 win in second doubles followed by a 6-3 victory in the top spot. Dartmouth next took a 3-0 advantage by winning in fourth (6-1, 6-2) and sixth (7-6 (2), 6-0) singles. Freshman Britany Lau (Kinnelon, N.J.) next provided momentum for the Bears with her 6-3, 7-6 (2) win in third singles, but the Big Green would clinch the match with a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win in the fifth spot.
