
Black History Month 2020: Kimani Paul-Emile '93, Women's Track & Field

Throughout the month of February, Brown Athletics will celebrate Black History Month through a series of profiles. Over the course of the month, the Bears will recognize African Americans who have made an impact on the university community and beyond.

Kimani Paul-Emile '93, Women's Track & Field

A member of the Brown Athletic Hall of Fame, Kimani Paul-Emile '93 totaled five individual Heptagonal championships, eight Heptagonal relay titles, and three Heptagonal team titles. She captured six Heptagonal titles as a senior with three championships during the indoor season (200 meters, 55 meters, 1-mile relay) and three titles in the outdoor season (200 meters, 4x400-meter relay, 4x100-meter relay). As a freshman she tallied three Heps titles (indoor 200 meters, indoor 4x400-meter relay, outdoor 4x400-meter relay). As a sophomore, she notched another three Heps titles (indoor 4x400-meter relay, outdoor 4x400-meter relay, outdoor 4x100-meter relay) and added an indoor 200 meter title as a junior. On the team level, she helped the Bears win indoor Heps in 1992 and 1993 and outdoor Heps in 1993. Paul-Emile went on to earn a law degree from Georgetown and a doctoral degree from NYU and now serves as a Professor of Law and the Associate Director and Head of Domestic Programs and Initiatives at Fordham Law School's Center on Race, Law & Justice.
