Brown Football Kicks-off 2019 Preseason Camp Under Head Coach James Perry

Providence, R.I. – First-year head coach James Perry '00 will lay the groundwork for the rebuilding of the Brown football program by kicking-off Brown's 142ndseason of intercollegiate football with the opening of preseason camp. The Bears will hold their first official practice on Saturday, August 24 at 3:00 pm, at the newly renovated Berylson Family Fields.
Perry has returned to his alma mater to lead the Brown football program, bringing with him a dynamic and fast style of offense that translates into points on the scoreboard. In two years as head coach at Bryant, Perry's squad averaged 30.3 points per game his first year and 32.5 points per game in 2018, scoring a school record 56 points in its final game against Howard. As offensive coordinator at Princeton, his 2013 offense set league records for points (43.7) and yards per game.
Brown opens its 2019 season at Bryant with an evening matchup on Saturday, September 21, followed by a nationally televised game on ESPN News at Harvard on Friday evening, September 27, in the Ivy opener for both teams.
Perry's squad plays its first home game on Saturday, October 5, hosting Rhode Island in the 104thGovernor's Cup game at Brown Stadium.
All practice sessions will take place on Berylson Family Fields at the Erickson Athletic Complex. The Bears practice daily through Tuesday, September 3, with classes beginning on Wednesday, September 4. Brown's traditional weekday afternoon practice schedule will start with the opening of classes.
Brown's home football games, all athletic contests and Ivy League away games can now be viewed on ESPN+, the direct-to-consumer sports streaming service from ESPN.
