Men’s Water Polo Announces Schedules for Fall Season, Bruno Classic

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University men's water polo will host the 2019 Bruno Classic, compete in five other tournaments, and play 10 Northeast Water Polo Conference games as part of its 2019 fall schedule, Brown head coach Felix Mercado announced on Monday.

Highlights from the Bears' 2019 schedule include six games at the eighth annual Bruno Classic in the team's opening weekend in addition to tournaments at Princeton, Air Force, Harvard, and Santa Clara. Brown's season culminates at the NWPC Championship at MIT.
Brown will play in 10 NWPC games during the regular season, squaring off in home-and-homes with Harvard, Princeton, St. Francis Brooklyn, Iona, and MIT.
The Bears commence their season with the Bruno Classic, facing Wagner, McKendree, Cal Lutheran, and Conn. College on Sept. 7 before meeting Bucknell and Cal Baptist on Sept. 8.
The team travels to the Princeton Invitational for its first games away from home, playing Wagner and Navy on Sept. 14 prior to squaring off with George Washington and Bucknell on Sept. 15. Brown makes its first trip outside the Northeast for the Air Force Invitational from Sept. 21-22.
Returning to the East Coast, the Bears take part in back-to-back NWPC league weekends. Brown plays at Iona (Oct. 5), at St. Francis Brooklyn (Oct. 5), and at Princeton (Oct. 6) in its first league weekend and hosts Harvard and MIT on Oct. 12 in the program's first home conference games of the year.
Brown returns to tournament play with the Harvard Invitational, meeting Wagner (Oct. 18), Pomona-Pitzer (Oct. 19), La Salle (Oct. 19), and George Washington (Oct. 2). The Bears play in their final tournament of the regular season at the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament at Santa Clara from Oct. 25-27.
In the final two weekends of the regular season, the team takes part in the second half of its conference schedule. The Bears host Princeton (Nov. 2), St. Francis Brooklyn (Nov. 3), and Iona (Nov. 3) prior to closing the season with a pair of road contests at MIT and at Harvard on Nov. 9.
Brown will compete at the 2019 Northeast Water Polo Conference Championship from Nov. 22-24 at MIT in Cambridge, Mass., with the winner of the tournament claiming the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Championships.
